New Zealand 1967 – Aurora australis and Southern Cross
One of a pair of stamps commemorating the centenary of the Royal Society of New
Zealand, this stamp shows auroral bands and the Southern Cross over Mount
Aspiring, one of the highest mountains in New Zealand. The second stamp carries
a portrait of Sir James Hector, founder of the Society.
