1966 Jodrell Bank radio telescope
Britain’s first astronomy-related stamp, showing the Jodrell Bank radio telescope, was issued in 1966 as the lowest-value member of a set
saluting British technology. Coloured black and what was officially described
as “lemon”, it was drab, poorly reproduced, and unimpressive. The other values and
subjects were: 6d, British motor cars; 1s 3d, SRN6 Hovercraft; 1s 6d, Windscale
reactor.
