Brazil 1898 – Southern Cross
(newspaper stamps surcharged)
These are the same as the newspaper
stamps of 1890, overprinted with
the date 1989 and new values. As before, notice the erratic
perforations. The colours are supposedly the same as the 1890
issues but the inks look somewhat different, particularly the
lowest-value stamp which appears grey rather than the specified
blue.
